Self-Sustained

Our Team

Kisha Arora

Kisha Arora, the founder of Self-Sustained, has been helping the under-privileged community since she was in middle school. Her interest in doing this started while taking an AVID class at middle school. As part of this class Kisha took on a project to prepare care packages for distribution to the underprivileged in the Bay Area. Kisha and a few other students created a school-wide drive to collect essentials for those in need. Doing this really piqued her interest in helping out the underprivileged community and this interest further grew during COVID. Kisha would often see people looking for money and help at parking lots and overtime school fields became a place many homeless people stayed. All this made her wonder what if these individuals could be trained such that they could find jobs, earn a living and sustain themselves. This is how Self-Sustained was born.

Helping the underprivileged community is a cause very close to her heart, and Kisha and the team at Self-Sustained are deeply committed to making a meaningful impact in finding a solution to the homelessness issue in the Bay Area.

Rachna Arora

Rachna Arora, Co-Founder of Self-Sustained Inc., has been dedicated to serving the underprivileged community for many years. Her passion for helping others started early in life, sparked by her involvement in various community outreach initiatives. Over time, Rachna became increasingly aware of the challenges faced by individuals experiencing homelessness and the systemic barriers that prevent many from achieving stability.
Inspired by a desire to make a meaningful change, Rachna co-founded Self-Sustained Inc. to empower individuals facing homelessness in the San Francisco Bay Area. She was particularly moved by the cycle of hardship she observed, where many people lacked the necessary support, education, and resources to regain their independence. This realization led her to ask, “What if we could equip individuals with the tools and skills they need to break free from this cycle and build a sustainable future?”

Driven by this vision, Rachna brought together a team of passionate individuals to create Self-Sustained Inc., an organization focused on offering education, job training, and life skills development to help people experiencing homelessness regain independence. Her personal commitment to empowering others and creating lasting change has shaped the organization’s approach, which aims not only to provide immediate support but also to develop long-term solutions for self-sufficiency.
