Self-Sustained offers a variety of training and support programs to help address/prevent homelessness. Our services include support for mental illness, drug addiction, substance abuse and more. In addition we provide no-cost training & skill enhancement programs in various fields such as Computers, IT Support, Financial Literacy, Life Management, Medical Assistant, Office Assistant, Building Maintenance, Construction, Carpentry, Culinary Arts & more. Our goal at Self-Sustained is to help individuals find jobs after they complete the training so they can get back on their feet & become self-sustained.
Homeless Help
At Self-Sustained we strive towards rebuilding lives of the underprivileged in the San Francisco Bay Area. Our team and partners provide crucial skills, training and support to those in need and help them get placed back in the workforce so they can sustain themselves. Our outreach includes connecting with the homeless population currently living in shelters and those on the streets. We also support those that are either currently unemployed and/or are on the verge of becoming unemployed to ensure they get the training and support they need to prevent them from falling into homelessness. Our training partners, volunteers provide the wrap-around services that are crucial to changing trajectories of homeless with an end goal of making them Self-Sustained.
Training & Support
Our training & support programs offer skill enhancement opportunities in various fields such as Computers, IT Support, Financial Literacy, Life Management, Medical Assistant, Office Assistant, Building Maintenance, Construction, Carpentry, Culinary Arts & more. In addition we also offer counseling for mental health, drug and substance abuse and other areas as needed. Training is provided either onsite at homeless shelters, or remote or by sending residents to our partner offsite training facilities. We also assist in providing transportation at no cost to those in need so they can commute from shelters to training facilities. Our team screens candidates and makes recommendations on the skill enhancement training that may provide the most benefit to participants.
Job Placement
Once the participants in our training programs complete training our job support team helps them find suitable jobs. Our team also helps with resume development, interview preparation and any other support they may need during their interview process including providing participants with computer facilities, a cell phone to be able to communicate with prospective employers and transportation to the interview site. Once participants find jobs, our team continues to stay in routine touch with individuals to ensure they keep succeeding at their jobs and become self-sustained.
